Default Guild Wars lag problems

Ok, I played in the WPE and I did not lag even near as much as this. I am well over the min specs and I'm over the recommended specs in some areas. Here is a listing of what I have on my pc:
Pentium 4 2.0 ghz
256 RDRAM
GeForce 4 MX 440 128 onboard
Broadband internet

I have the settings set to a little bit lower then what auto detect gives me. I lag only slightly in the instanced areas, don't know if it will lag more with a party, I have yet to try that. It lags horribly in cities, it pans out after a few seconds until I have to turn again or change the camera in some way. My biggest problem is whenever the camera angle changes and it has to load what I'm about to see. I also got high lag in the intro.

I was wondering if there is some way to help this problem without having to upgrade my hardware. I do not have the funds to upgrade the PC at this moment, thus why I bought a free online game. I am only 17 and have a 5 hour a week job at minimum wage. Any and all help is appreciated

Hello. I havent played this game yet but I will give you advice on what I know on games, especially online, and computers. Your problem sounds to me like a lack of memory problem. Your processor at 2.0 ghz is plenty fast, its just your memory holding you back. The requirements and recommended specs the company puts on games are a guidline to see if you can run the game, the game being playable under the recommended specs is another story. They dont take into account all the people playing at once, and if they put these high requirements on the game then no one will buy because of lack of hardware. I'm sorry to say that under 256mb of RAM, especially RDRAM, is not nearly enough to run smoothly. I would have to recommend 1024mb at the lowest, these games take a lot of memory to load. I understand how you feel about the money issue because I am 18 and I know how that goes. The only way to help fix this is to lower detail settings, if thats possible. Sorry for the bad news!

the detail settings have no affect at all on game proformance. Runs jus as slow or fast on all settings.

you may not notice it, but they do. I would at least upgrade to 512 RAM, thats only like 50 bucks...that should solve most of the problems, im running a 1.61ghz P4, same video card as you and 512 RAM and i rarely lag.
